Introduced in 1965, the Porsche 911 Targa featured a distinctive brushed stainless-steel roll bar, removable roof panel, and folding rear window, offering an innovative solution to growing safety concerns while preserving the appeal of open-air motoring. For 1967, the high-performance 911 S paired the Targa body with Porsche’s fuel-injected 2.0-liter flat-six, producing 160 hp, along with ventilated disc brakes, KONI shock absorbers, anti-roll bars, and lightweight Fuchs alloy wheels.

One of just 483 911 S Soft-Window Targas completed for the 1967 model year, this early example was delivered through Porsche + Audi Northeast of Bedford, Massachusetts, in April 1967, as documented by its accompanying Kardex.

Originally finished in the attractive and relatively uncommon shade of Aga Blue over black leatherette upholstery, it was ordered with a desirable selection of factory options including Recaro sport seats, driver-side exterior mirror, and a Webasto auxiliary heater.

During the 2000s, the Porsche reportedly benefited from a comprehensive restoration carried out over the course of more than a decade, encompassing both cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment and resulting in its current Polo Red finish. Accompanied by its Kardex, books, and tools, this rare Soft-Window Targa represents one of the most distinctive and sought-after variants of Porsche’s seminal short-wheelbase 911.
