1969 Porsche 911 2.0 S

By 1969, Porsche had established the 911 as one of the world’s premier sports cars. That year, the range-topping 911 S featured Bosch mechanical fuel injection, ventilated disc brakes, and a high-revving 170 hp flat-six. As documented on its Porsche Technical Certificate, this 911 was delivered new in the striking special-order shade of Zinc Yellow, referenced on the original bill of sale as RAL1018-Ferrari Yellow. The car featured a black leatherette interior and its options included Recaro sport seats and a “special ratio gearbox for fast circuits.”

The 911 was purchased in 1969 at Otto Glöckler in Frankfurt – one of the earliest Porsche dealerships – by the previous owner’s father, a pilot for Pan American Airways. He picked it up at the dealership with his wife, driving to Italy and then shipping it to their home in California. Retaining a largely original character throughout, the Porsche was repainted around the early 1990s, and displays a charismatic patina commensurate with its age. The previous owner’s son reported that his father rebuilt the engine at 100,000 miles, with machine work by longtime California Porsche specialist Lukes & Shorman. The 911 was acquired in 2022 by the consignor after a remarkable 53 years of single family ownership.
