While initially introduced as a simplistic and utilitarian automobile, Citroën’s 2CV went on to outlive several of its intended successors and became fashionable among younger, especially under-35, buyers by the 1980s. Featuring Art Deco-inspired two-tone paint schemes, the 2CV Charleston was introduced in October 1980 and added to the Citroën model catalogue in October 1981, and remained in production for the next decade, during which time some 8,000 examples were sold. Colors were initially burgundy and black two-tone paint, and then yellow and black, and then a dark and light gray combination. All of these special 2CV models included small stainless-steel hubcaps. According to marque enthusiasts, some 8,000 Charleston variants were built.

This 1982 Citroën 2CV Charleston is a compelling example with just two prior owners. It was driven approximately 45,000 km by its first owner before being carefully garaged by its second owner for eight years. In 2015, it was acquired in Europe by the Mullin Collection and imported to the US. This charming 2CV Charleston features diamond-patterned seats, which only heighten its aesthetic charm.
