Attractively finished in Grand Prix White over blue leather, this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera is believed to be one of approximately 274 Turbo-Look Cabriolets built for 1984. Sharing much of its specification with the 930 Turbo, the Turbo-Look package incorporated the model’s widened bodywork, front spoiler, and rear wing, upgraded brakes and suspension, wider wheels and tires, aluminum rear trailing arms, and larger anti-roll bars.
Factory options included California emissions equipment, a tonneau cover, Blaupunkt Monterey radio, limited-slip differential, cruise control, and Tourist Delivery. Together with the Sonderwunsch “Z” designation, the specification suggests an individualized factory order. While M491 does not appear among the listed option codes, the Carrera retains the Turbo-Look package’s distinctive bodywork and mechanical upgrades. Contemporary Porsche sources indicate that the earliest 1984 Cabriolets were specified through the Special Wishes department and may not have been recorded using the M491 option code adopted later.
Combining the open-air appeal of the Cabriolet with the appearance and enhanced chassis specification of the 930, this early Turbo-Look Carrera represents a rare and highly desirable variant of Porsche’s iconic 3.2-liter 911.
