The Ferrari Testarossa was built as a nod to the 250 Testa Rossa, Ferrari’s legendary racing car of the late 1950s. A 12-cylinder sports car like its namesake, the Testarossa was launched in 1984 at the Paris Motor Show and remained in production until 1991.
This Testarossa was special ordered by Donald L. Weber in 1986 and is a rare example of the early “Flying Mirror” model, highly sought-after for its single mirror affixed mid-post on the driver’s side. Correspondence with Ferrari in Maranello illustrates Mr. Weber’s specific requirements – Rosso Corsa (Racing Red) paint for the body, tan leather interior, a black dashboard, and red carpet. The car was delivered in October 1986 and welcomed into Mr. Weber’s collection. As might be expected of a car of this caliber, which has remained in a single prestigious collection, this Testarossa is in stunning condition after years of service by trusted specialists, which is well documented. Accompanying the Ferrari are the original owner’s warranty and service books, Ferrari sales and organization manual, a US version of the Testarossa handbook, European warranty paperwork, and jack and tool kits.
Incredibly, this Testarossa has just over 1,000 miles on the odometer and presents as expected for a car with such limited mileage. As a spectacular early example of the Testarossa, with its special options and rare “Flying Mirror,” this car offers a unique opportunity to own a top-quality Ferrari with miles of adventure still ahead of it.
