Outstanding Presentation with an Astonishing Level of Detail

Forged through an unlikely partnership between two Stuttgart titans, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, the Mercedes-Benz 500E was born out of necessity for both firms and helped to cement the 500E’s reputation for exceptional build quality and performance.

Delivered new through Star Motor Cars of Houston, this 1992 500E remained in Texas under two caretakers until its acquisition by the consignor in 2014. It subsequently underwent an extensive, photo-documented restoration. Work included rebuilding the engine and transmission, upgrading the limited-slip differential and brakes, and the remarkable procurement and installation of original 500E mechanical and interior components then available from Mercedes-Benz. The quality of the restoration became apparent at the 2016 Legends of the Autobahn gathering during Monterey Car Week, where judges could not identify a single flaw, giving this remarkable 500E a 100-point score and awarding it Best of Marque. Further accolades followed at the 2023 Turtle Invitational, where it was awarded Best in Class.

Today, this 1992 Mercedes-Benz 500E stands as quite possibly the finest example of the legendary collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Collectors seeking an apogee addition to their garage should seize this opportunity to acquire a judged-perfect example from two legendary Stuttgart marques.
