From the earliest days of the Porsche 911, motorsport has been inseparable from the model’s identity. Many of Porsche’s most compelling 911s have occupied the narrow territory between road and race, combining competition-derived engineering with enough civility for use beyond the circuit. That philosophy remained very much alive during the 964 generation, which gave rise to a range of focused derivatives, including the Carrera Cup race car and the road going Carrera RS. For those seeking an experience closer to competition specification than the Carrera RS, Porsche produced a limited number of examples of the desirable Carrera RS N/GT.

An even more purposeful evolution of the already lightweight Carrera RS, the N/GT was configured with Porsche’s M003 package and dispensed with virtually everything that did not directly serve performance. The standard RS was already a remarkably focused machine, benefiting from thinner glass, an aluminum bonnet, simplified wiring, reduced sound insulation, lightweight door panels, and minimal carpeting. The N/GT took this philosophy considerably further.

Its competition-inspired cabin featured a welded Matter roll cage, fixed-back racing seats with six-point harnesses, a fire extinguisher, and a cockpit-mounted electrical cut-off switch. Much of the interior was reduced to painted metal and featured lightweight trim, while simple door cards with fabric pull-straps recalled the character of Porsche’s great lightweight 911s of the past. A larger-capacity fuel tank and lightweight 17" magnesium Cup wheels further underlined the car’s intended dual-purpose nature.

At its heart was Porsche’s naturally aspirated 3.6-litre M64/03 flat-six engine, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and ZF limited-slip differential. The engine’s appeal lay not simply in its output but in the immediacy of its response. A single-mass flywheel enabled it to rev more quickly, while the absence of substantial sound insulation allowed the mechanical character of the celebrated flat-six to fill the cabin.

The chassis received the same uncompromising attention. Stiffer, lowered suspension, reinforced mounting points and powerful braking hardware, combined with the substantial reduction in weight, created one of the most direct and communicative road-going 911s of its generation. Steering response was immediate, the controls richly mechanical, and the relationship between driver and machine remarkably unfiltered.

Porsche produced just 290 examples of the Carrera RS N/GT, making it one of the most exclusive derivatives of the 964 generation. This example is made rarer still by its factory Signal Green finish, a color believed to have been specified on only five Carrera RS N/GTs.

Delivered new in Switzerland, this exceptional example has remained in the country throughout its life and has passed through the hands of just four owners since new. The consignor reports that it retains its original factory-applied paintwork, an increasingly uncommon distinction for a 964 RS and particularly significant for a model so frequently subjected to competition use.

Displaying fewer than 36,500 km when catalogued, the Porsche is documented with extensive maintenance records. Its low mileage, continuous Swiss provenance, and remarkable degree of originality combine to distinguish it even within the already rarefied world of the Carrera RS N/GT. This example presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the purest road-going 911s of its era in a specification and state of preservation seldom encountered.
