Introduced in 1994, the Ferrari F355 marked a dramatic leap forward from its predecessor, the 348, combining breathtaking performance with a level of refinement and drivability that immediately won over critics and enthusiasts alike. Although similar in overall dimensions to the outgoing model, the F355 benefited from more than 1,800 hours of wind-tunnel development by Pininfarina, resulting in a highly efficient aerodynamic package that incorporated an F1-inspired flat undertray and carefully engineered airflow management. Its mid-mounted 3.5-liter V-8 featured innovative five-valve cylinder heads and produced an impressive 375 hp at 8,250 rpm, while a gated six-speed manual gearbox and electronically adjustable suspension further enhanced the driving experience.
The results were immediately evident. During testing at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit, the F355 recorded lap times approximately two seconds quicker than those of the 12-cylinder 512 TR. Contemporary road tests were equally enthusiastic. Writing for Road & Track, former Le Mans winner Paul Frère recorded 0–60 mph in 4.9 seconds, a 13.3-second quarter mile, and an estimated top speed of 183 mph, ultimately describing the F355 as “the purest purebred yet from Ferrari’s Scuderia.”
The F355 Spider followed in 1995, introducing Ferrari’s first electronically operated soft top and bringing open-air enjoyment to what was already one of Maranello’s most celebrated modern sports cars. Production ultimately exceeded 3,700 examples, securing the Spider’s place as one of Ferrari’s most successful V-8 convertibles of the era.
Presented in classic Nero (Black) over Beige leather and showing less than 17,000 miles from new, this 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider is equipped with the highly desirable six-speed manual gearbox, complete with Ferrari’s iconic gated shifter.
Originally delivered new to a Michigan owner, the F355 remained in that stewardship until 2009, when it was sold to an enthusiast in Laguna Beach, California. The car later relocated to Germany, where it was acquired by its third known owner in 2015 through Mint Classics near Munich. In June 2024, a major service was completed by Ferrari specialists AutoToyStore in Starnberg, Germany. During its time in Europe, the Spider participated in both the 2024 and 2025 editions of the 1000 Miglia Experience. Repatriated to the US in 2025, it has since resided with its current owner.
Thoughtfully maintained and exceptionally well preserved, the car remains in superb overall condition. Enhancements include an F355 Challenge rear grille and a Tubi exhaust system with catalytic converters.
Accompanying the Ferrari is an extensive history file containing service records and invoices dating from 2005 to the present, along with CARFAX and AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports. As noted in the CARFAX Report, the Spider sustained minor damage to the front bumper in October 2001, which was subsequently repaired.
Additional documentation includes the original window sticker, an F355 Spider sales brochure and press kit complete with factory-issued 35 mm photographic slides, the original owner’s manual, warranty book, and supplements housed in their leather folio, and the factory emergency tool kit, tire inflator, and warning triangle.
Combining low mileage, desirable specifications, extensive documentation, and participation in the 1000 Miglia Experience, this well-maintained F355 Spider represents an exciting opportunity to acquire one of Ferrari’s most beloved modern classics.
