2002 marked the 35th anniversary of the Firebird, and Pontiac developed a special Collector Edition to commemorate the final year of the model’s production. Based on their highest-performing WS6 variant, the Collector Edition was only available in Pontiac Collector Yellow and featured a special black and silver graphics package along with black five-spoke wheels. The interior was finished in Ebony leather and had unique seat stitching to match the Collector Edition badges on the exterior. Offered in both coupe and convertible versions, Pontiac built about 2,400 Collector Edition cars with a nearly even split between body styles.

This 2002 Firebird Collector Edition was sold new at Schaefer Motor Sales of Racine, Wisconsin, to its first owner, noted Pontiac muscle car collector Robert Lozins. The original window sticker shows that in addition to the WS6 and Collector Edition packages, both traction control and the desirable six-speed manual with a factory-installed Hurst shifter were specified. This Firebird remained in Mr. Lozins’ collection until September 2017, when it was purchased by the consignor. Showing just 2,052 miles at the time of cataloguing, the car has been meticulously kept and appears in near-showroom condition.

Accompanying the car at auction is the original dealer documentation, window sticker, and factory sales literature, including a Collector Edition brochure. This Firebird is an excellent example of one of the last great American muscle cars and it is ready to be enjoyed by its lucky new owner.
