2018 Porsche 991 GT2 RS Weissach

The 991 GT2 RS represented the pinnacle of Porsche’s rear-wheel-drive 911 and, at its introduction, was the most powerful production 911 ever built. Unveiled at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, it was powered by a 3.8-liter twinturbocharged flat-six producing 700 hp and 553 lbs./ft. of torque.

Paired exclusively with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, the GT2 RS could accelerate from 0–60 mph in 2.7 seconds and achieve a limited top speed of 211 mph. Extensive aerodynamic development, including enlarged air intakes, NACA ducts integrated into the front luggage-compartment lid, and a large rear wing, contributed to exceptional cooling and downforce. Further enhancing performance were Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), rear-axle steering, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), creating one of the most capable roadgoing 911s ever produced.

To withstand the demands of sustained high-speed operation, Porsche equipped the GT2 RS with larger turbochargers, a water-assisted charge-air cooling system, and a lightweight titanium exhaust system. For customers seeking the ultimate road-going specification, Porsche offered the optional Weissach Package, a comprehensive weight-reduction program inspired by the marque’s motorsport efforts. Named after Porsche’s development center in Weissach, Germany, the package incorporated extensive carbon fiber-reinforced plastic components, including the roof, anti-roll bars, and suspension coupling rods.

Exposed carbon fiber finishes throughout the exterior and interior further emphasized the car’s competition-bred character, while lightweight magnesium wheels reduced both overall weight and unsprung mass, contributing to a reduction of approximately 30 kg compared to a standard GT2 RS. Beyond its extensive use of carbon fiber, the Weissach Package reflected Porsche’s relentless focus on weight reduction, incorporating numerous motorsport-derived components to sharpen handling response and further improve the GT2 RS’s already remarkable power-to-weight ratio.

The GT2 RS validated its extraordinary capabilities at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where Porsche factory driver Nick Tandy and development driver Lars Kern recorded a production-car lap record of 6 minutes, 47.3 seconds. The achievement was particularly noteworthy given the car’s rear-wheel-drive layout, underscoring Porsche’s ability to harness 700 hp through the traditional 911 configuration. The record further cemented the GT2 RS’s status as the benchmark among contemporary high-performance sports cars.

Finished in Racing Yellow over a Black leather and Alcantara interior with Platinum Grey stitching, this 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS was delivered new via Fred Lavery Porsche of Birmingham, Michigan in November 2018. Significantly, it was specified with the highly desirable Weissach Package and optional forged magnesium center-lock wheels. Additional factory options included LED headlights in Black with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), front-axle lift system, the Chrono Package with lap trigger preparation, an extended-range 23.7-gallon fuel tank, automatically dimming mirrors, the Light Design Package, Smoking Package, fire extinguisher, Racing Yellow seat belts, the Extended Deviating Stitching Interior Package, a leathertrimmed steering column casing with deviating stitching, illuminated carbon fiber door-sill guards, and a Bose Surround Sound System.

Remaining with its original owner until 2024, the GT2 RS subsequently passed to a Florida-based collector, accumulating remarkably few miles during either stewardship. An accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report documents an accident-free history and records an extensive time-based service performed by Bert Smith Euro Collection in St. Petersburg in July 2024, at which time the odometer displayed just 68 miles from new. Showing only 132 miles at the time of cataloguing and accompanied by its books and delivery accessories, this exceptionally preserved Weissach-equipped GT2 RS represents the definitive expression of the 991-generation 911.
