When Ford unveiled a new GT at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the timing was deliberate. The following summer would mark 50 years since the GT40 Mk II finished 1-2-3 at Le Mans, ending Ferrari’s run of victories at the hallowed Circuit de la Sarthe. This was not Ford’s first modern revival of the name. The 2005 GT had closely reinterpreted the GT40’s shape, but the new car took a different approach, putting aerodynamics and high-technology ahead of nostalgia. A small in-house team set out to create a road car that would also form the basis of a factory racing program. The result of these efforts was a race car that, in June 2016, won the GTE Pro class at Le Mans on its first attempt, 50 years after the 1966 result.
Production of the road-going GT was entrusted to Multimatic in Ontario, Canada, a motorsport specialist with extensive experience in composite construction. The GT was built around a carbon fibre passenger cell with aluminum front and rear subframes, clothed in carbon fibre bodywork. Its teardrop cabin and distinctive flying buttresses channel air toward the rear, while an active rear wing and front flaps adjust to driving conditions. Formula-1-style pushrod suspension with adjustable dampers allows the car to drop by approximately 50 mm in Track Mode, and its stopping ability comes from competition-derived Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.
Power is supplied by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6, an engine developed alongside Ford’s endurance racing program. From the 2020 model year, output rose to 669 PS, sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle. Ford quoted a top speed of 348 km/h, making the GT the fastest production Ford to that point.
Owning the new Ford GT was not, however, a simple matter of placing an order. Prospective buyers applied directly to Ford, with selection favoring loyal Ford customers and enthusiasts who intended to drive and share their cars. Production was initially planned at 500 examples, later extended to approximately 1,350 before the final car left Multimatic in late 2022.
Ford introduced the “Studio Collection” in 2020 as an exclusive graphics package that was offered to a very select number of customers. Only 40 cars were to receive it across the 2021 and 2022 model years, each with graphics in one of seven standard colors or a color from an extended palette. The example offered here is one of 20 Studio Collection cars built for the 2021 model year. It was ordered through Ford’s European program in March 2021, with a list price of €754,500, according to its order confirmation, a copy of which remains on file. Finished in Frozen White with Lightning Blue graphics, the theme carries through to Lightning Blue mirror caps and blue Brembo calipers. The Lightspeed interior theme was paired with an extensive list of factory options, including 20" gloss exposed carbon fibre wheels, the gloss exposed carbon fibre exterior package, titanium lug nuts, a titanium tow hook, six-point harness anchors, and a fitted blue indoor car cover.
The GT was completed on 26 August 2021, invoiced by Ford Motor Company (Belgium) the following month, before being first registered in Switzerland. The Ford has been maintained by Emil Frey Chavannes, the official Ford dealer near Lausanne, and its service invoices record its mileage at 93 km in June 2024, 136 km at the four-year factory service in June 2025, and 191 km at the five-year service in June 2026.
Accompanied by copies of its Ford order confirmation, factory invoices, EC Certificate of Conformity, and Swiss service records, this Ford GT is an exceptionally low-mileage example of one of the most significant supercars of its era. Offered in a distinctive Studio Collection specification and showing less than 200 km at the time of cataloguing, it represents a compelling opportunity for the discerning collector of modern automobiles.
