Solex, a French company best known as a manufacturer of carburetors, introduced the VéloSolex motorized bicycle, or Moped, in 1946 to help mobilize a postwar Europe. Marketed as the “bicycle that drives itself,” it was an economical transportation solution for millions throughout its production run.

While the early history of this circa 1962 Solex Moped is not known, it was purchased by the Mullin Collection via Jack Braam Ruben in 2017, joining other fascinating and rare French motorcycles. Fitted with a 45 cc displacement two-stroke engine and presented in unrestored condition, this interesting Solex Moped could be an appealing addition to any motorcycle collection.
