1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

Debuted at Geneva in 1962, Alfa Romeo’s 2600 was the storied Italian marque’s flagship model line through 1967. It was available in three body styles: a four-door Berlina with factory bodywork, a Bertone-bodied coupe called the Sprint, and a 2+2 Spider featuring Superleggera (Super light) coachwork by Touring. Delivering a wonderful blend of characteristically Italian design and spirited driving dynamics, the Spider is quite rare, with only 2,255 examples built.

This beautifully restored example was discovered by the consignor as a Central California barn find, in unrestored but remarkably complete condition. After acquiring the car, an extensive multiyear restoration was conducted by Vittorio and Onofrio Di Leonardis of Alfa Italia in Burbank, California. During this restoration, the Spider was refinished in an era-appropriate color combination of singlestage black paint with a medium tan leather interior. The correct-type AR00601 engine was rebuilt by Import Auto Parts Machine Shop of Santa Barbara, California. Upgrades applied during the rebuild include Weber 40 DCOE 2 carburetors, reprofiled camshafts by Richard Jemison, an electronic ignition distributor, and a high-torque starter motor. The original Solex carburetors and intake manifold accompany the car. This handsome and rare Italian convertible has yet to be displayed at major concours or club events since its restoration and will provide an ideal entry for its lucky next owner.
