1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0

Introduced for 1976, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 was built for only two years as the final evolution of Porsche’s early G-series Carrera.

According to its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this 1976 911 Carrera 3.0 was finished in Silver Metallic and specified with forged 15" Fuchs alloy wheels, tinted glass, a black headliner, and radio preparation. Of particular interest, the certificate records black leatherette upholstery and black leather Fuhrmann seats with green tartancloth inserts. Named for celebrated Porsche engineer and executive Dr. Ernst Fuhrmann, these orthopedic-style seats were reportedly developed to offer improved support and comfort and remain a rare and distinctive period option.

An original registration document on file indicates that this Carrera 3.0 was first registered in Vienna, Austria, in May 1976 to Josef Ahorner OHG, a fruit-import and wholesale concern associated with the Ahorner branch of the extended Porsche-Piëch family, and appears to have remained in its ownership until October 1977.

Displaying 45,005 km (27,965 miles) at the time of cataloguing, this 911 presents as a well-preserved, collector-quality example. Distinguished by its seldom-seen Fuhrmann-seat interior and intriguing Porsche-Piëch family connection, it represents a particularly charismatic and attractive example of Porsche’s short-lived Carrera 3.0.
