Introduced at the Paris and London Motor Shows in 1975, the Pininfarina-designed 308 GTB established a design language that would influence Ferrari’s mid-engine road cars for decades. Early production comprised just 712 lightweight fiberglass-bodied “Vetroresina” examples before Ferrari adopted steel coachwork for the remainder of production. Power came from a transverse-mounted, all-alloy, four-cam V-8 breathing through four Weber carburetors, producing 240 hp in US specification and delivering the crisp throttle response that has made carbureted 308s especially coveted today.
Completed in October 1979, this US-market 308 GTB hails from the final model year to feature Weber carburetors and is one of fewer than 3,000 carbureted GTBs built, according to marque authorities. Finished in striking Giallo Fly (Fly Yellow) over black leather, it is further equipped with a period-correct Concord HPL-115 radio, believed to have been dealer installed when new.
Described by the consignor as a “time capsule” example and displaying just 10,110 miles at the time of cataloguing, this exceptionally well-preserved 308 GTB is offered from a significant private collection. Accompanied by its books, leather folio, tool roll, jack, and recent service records, it represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire a highly original carbureted 308 GTB in one of Ferrari’s most iconic color combinations.
